Upon the Open Seas

War has come to our Country, we wish so badly it were not so,
But as it came, we have the bravest and God given, best service people to go,
They are volunteers, sailors, marines, air force and army too, the very best,
But I know they are lonely out upon the high sea, with hardly any rest.

Bring them home safely Lord, don’t let the evil ones take them away,
For we shall love each and every one, even to the very last day they stay,
They are our friends, children, husbands, sweethearts and much more,
There are serving this Country, America, dads and mothers galore.

They come from families rich or poor, or maybe some in between,
But all in all, they’re the best any Country has, or ever will have seen,
That’s a mighty big old ocean out there, over across the briny way,
Let us help them to be a little more secure, as we write them every day.

Letters, e-mail, or just a little note to help cheer them on their path,
And send them Prayers that our God will keep away the dreadful wrath,
Of the evil ones who want to kill and destroy, even with disease,
To the loved ones here at home and out there with them, upon the high seas.

Lord I know these men and women are precious in Thy sight as in ours too,
Be with them every minute in each hour and tell their hearts what to do,
Show them clearly Lord, and let them conquer all, as it will please,
All the home front who are Praying for our people, who are upon the open seas.
