As we go along life’s journey, we see a sunset up ahead.
It is all red and gold, shinning in a river; spring fed.
We’r e filled with energy of life. What could go wrong?
Then if disaster strikes, we sing another kind of song.
We look at the golden light on the water, sunset red.
We see the beauty the Lord hath given; The Lord hath led.
Behind the clouds, all streaked with flecks with gold
We then think of our Savior and the story, many times untold.
There are trees of red, yellow and amber acorns falling down.
That brings our heart comfort, seeing squirrels scampering ‘round.
Maybe we are on a journey, seeing cornfields gold.
We think of the fruit Jesus sends down to us; His fold.
Driving across the country; wildflowers all aside
We see the goldenrod bending its head, as we ride.
There is the bridal wreath all along life’s lonely way
However, in the beautiful sunset, we think on Jesus today.
Thank you sweet, Lord; for the grace, Thou hast given.
Thank Thee Father for our home, Thou prepared in Heaven.
Thank Thee for the sunsets in life; let us ponder to enjoy all
Our hearts knowing that one day, Jesus will come to call.
