The sheep were baaing, going astray,
Needing a shepherd to lead the way.
Where would they find one, this soul of man?
Could there be one in Canaan land?
Maybe in the land of Galilee
Where He walked and prayed by the sea?
Maybe from the land of Israel He'll come
From where He was born, in the city of Jerusalem.
Our Shepherd did come to us, to take our sin
Upon himself, the Cross to bear, our souls to win.
His Father from above sent Him as a gift to all,
Upon Whose name they were willing to call.
He is still our Shepherd, our Savior and King,
If we accept Him, kindness and mercy He'll bring
Upon all who love Him, forgiveness He will bestow,
And all the hills we have to climb, This, our Shepherd with us will go.
