Mockingbird, mockingbird, sing me a new song,
Sing softly, sing sweetly, all through the night long,
Silence is golden, but please, not tonight I pray,
Sing me a song gaily, and sleep when it's day.
My worst fear is screaming, silently, so sing now to me,
When the darkness is gone, I'll be able to see.
Tomorrow the butterflies will all come out,
Brilliant colors all darting, and flitting about.
Then I'll be merry, Nothing can be wrong,
So mockingbird, mockingbird, just sing me a song,
Tonight while it's lonely, and I'm here all alone,
Mockingbird, I ask you, just sing me a new song.
My heart has been broken, so sing merrily to me,
One day when it's mended, I'll thank you, you see,
Then life will be blissful, I'll need you no more,
But you can sing sweetly, at some other door.
