There's a grayness in the clouds.
Today looks so like Spring.
Soon, there will be the wet drops
Of soft falling rain.
Upon the cold leaves, yet still
Upon the already wet ground.
But, the daffodils are up
And blooming colors all around.
Hyacinths already dropping pedals.
Soon they'll be gone away.
Day lilies coming on,
Marking the beauty of another day.
Iris all budding, with tinges
Of color showing again,
All are dependent upon the falling
Of the gentle, warm, rain.
Spring is here. There are Robins
Hopping round, checking out the site,
Wondering where will be their nest
This year; one that's cool and light.
Amaryllis tips just barely showing,
Soon what an awesome sight,
As the Lord brings each thing,
Great and small, into our sight.
Laying in bed, listening to the rain, softly
Falling, makes me dream of other days,
When loved ones gathered round
The fireplace, thinking of ways.
We might have an early flower garden,
Blossoming all around;
Rain softly falling upon the house and trees
And on the flowers upon the ground.
Just a whisper of rosebuds,
peeking out for all to come and see,
As if saying in a loud voice,
"Come and take a look at me."
Soon to be opening, maybe the rain
Will wait awhile for it to show
All the awesome wonder of its beauty,
As beside them we slowly go.
