All through the spring and summer, flowers blooming, and then diminishing,
I was looking forward to the fall, and the blessing it would bring.
As I waited impatiently, at last the summer was finishing,
September brought my Donna, Oh how she made me want to sing.
She's given us a life of love and happiness, a life that I hold very dear,
Each year she lives, she adds to our lives many treasures to remember.
And the little family she has raised, really gives us something to cheer,
That's why one of my favorite dates is the twenty fifth of September.
The night was still warm as announced her arrival, the dew had fallen,
As I looked upon her, all I could see was how beautiful,
Was this child of mine, And to my Lord I felt so beholden,
Always our sunshine, my doll, so loving and always to us, so dutiful.
Lord please give her the heart to always except, and do Your will,
Not she, or others to please, but learn that what's in her heart is from you,
Talking to her, telling her that You'll always be there for her still.
And knowing that in her heart, You'll always be her first love too.
Wishing for our Donna, the sun and the moon, and stars at night,
Wishing for her birthday hopes and dreams all to materialize,
Also for all the happiness that life's dreams can bring tonight.
As she celebrates her birthday, and knows we love beyond what she can realize.
