My Brother's Keeper

Am I my brother’s keeper? Seems I’ve heard this phrase somewhere,
Maybe it was when I was reading the word, or deep down in Prayer,
Yes, I’m my brothers keeper; my Lord has told me so,
To tell him about Jesus and down to the Altar go.

We are to reason together, help each other in every way,
Tell them about Jesus and the cross and how they ought to Pray,
Keep our lanterns ever lit, to help light up our life,
For a wayward brother, who might be going through a lot of strife.

I know my Savior told us to keep our lamps well filled with oil,
To trim the wick often, light up brightly, our brethren not to foil,
Whatever we can do to keep our brother afloat,
To the giving of our cloaks also, when he asks for our coat.

Times are getting much harder; we need to keep our hearts alert,
Old Satan’s roaming about the world, trying for our souls to hurt,
So we better watch closely, hold onto our brothers hand,
So he might to be raptured up to Heaven to meet the holy band.
In the land of glory, where the river never runs dry,
Where there’s no need for sun and moon to shine, in the sweet by and by,
Our Lord has us covered, every fathom of the way,
Under His wings we’ll go there and worship our Master every day.
