Many, many years ago, there walked upon this land,
A Savior, who was born in Jerusalem, our soul is in His hand,
He’s the Son of the living God, born unto us that day,
His Purpose in choosing to die was to take our sins away.
He really loved us just that much, to hang on the Cross in our stead,
With all the sin and hatred in the world, old Satan wanted Him dead,
But He took the keys from Satan and Hades, then He rose again,
On that fateful third day He came back again, Jesus is His name.
He walked and talked with the disciples, teaching them how to live,
How here on earth we’re to love each other and truly forgive,
But for Him, we’d hold in our hearts and carry so much shame,
But now our dear, sweet Savior has risen, Jesus is His name.
He overcame all for you and me; somehow we have to tell each one,
The sweet story of one, who loved so much, He gave His only Son,
The sweetness of His glory, as He proudly rose to living fame,
Not for His Glory, but for yours and mine, Jesus is His name.
So I’m so grateful for His true, sweet, wonderful love,
Whatever I can do Lord, then help me from up there above,
Please help me not to slacken in my duties, it would be to my great shame.
Don’t let me forget my Savior, who died and rose again, for Jesus is His name.
