Happy little boy, right from the start,
Worked your way right into my heart.
Into the world you've brought a lot of joy,
Remember when I'd sing to you " My Sonny Boy"
Do you remember when "horsey" we'd play,
Or if I hid too long "Nanny you'd say"
I know where you are, but come out now,
It's time to eat, I'm hungry anyhow.
Then I's rock you to sleep, as you'd look up at me,
Trusting and precious as a little boy could be.
All grown up now, my big strong man,
ometimes I wish we could go back, and play again.
But I love you just as much as a fine grown man,
You've protected us as much as you ever can.
Driving down our Alley, seeing that we weren't in harm's way,
I can't tell you how much that meant, when you told us one day.
I know you won't ever forget us, as you go on your way,
We'll always come into your mind, day by day.
But now it's time, and you're all grown up,
But in my heart you'll always be "My little Pup".
So have a great birthday, and many more to be,
But somehow it's this one, I'd especially like to see.
I see in you, Mom and Dad, and your sister too,
But it's Daddy Bill and me, going on in you.
