Today on your birthday, I just keep reminiscing:
Setting here dwelling on the days of long ago,
Of all the things we thought we were missing,
But the dearest things were embedded in our hearts aglow.
After we had eaten supper every night,
And when we'd finished all our chores,
We'd do our homework by coal oil lamps, and fire light,
After Mama and Daddy had locked all the doors.
But in the summertime, we's still be outside playing,
Catching fireflies, and running to hide from tree to tree.
And do you remember us always calling,
I'll bet you can never, never find me?
Now those days are gone, along with Mom and Dad, so far away,
But deep inside my heart, tho we're living in another time,
I'm still wishing you a very happy birthday,
And still loving you dear Sister of mine.
