AMNESTY FOR ME
I was looking this whole world over, my sin to hide you see,
My heart didn’t yet know my Lord, You’d given me amnesty.
No one told me my Lord, that You had set me free,
But I’ve since found, Dear Jesus, that you died for me.
On an old rugged cross, heavy to bear, my sin You wiped away,
Made them as white as the snow up on the mountain top today.
What can I do, but tell the world all about Thee?
That You washed away my sin and gave me amnesty.
How can I not sing to Glory, all that befell me my Lord,
How You saved me by Grace, of thine own sweet accord?
And also all that will believe, trust in Thy sweet word,
And tell them of the sweetest story that I’d ever heard.
It’s like I belonged in prison, so great was the shame,
Downtrodden and weary, till I heard of Thy Name.
Tell them, a name like none other, can to glory set thee free.
For it’s our sweet Savior, The King of King’s Who grant’s amnesty.
